Ion propulsion rocket gets to the Moon
and here

On a side note I am really happy ion-propulsion technology is finally getting some game time. I first heard about it several years ago at a conference for work and was very excited. I think [assuming red tape doesn’t get in the way] that this could help further our scientific exploration of outer space.

  1. …especially if you’re a fan of lumbering diesels, they too take a little bit of time to get up to speed, but once they’re rolling, they’re just as fast as any other car on the road.

In other space related news, on the other end of the speed equation, the scramjet test got delayed today http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,65725,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_2 but only for the the day

hopefully it will be a go tmw.

New York to LA in a 1/2 hour?

That’s a future i want to live in though, though it’ll prolly be a while until they lick the time it takes getting from the airport to your final destination issue.

  2. Actually I am a fan of diesel cars, except for one fact, to no fault of the cars, is the lack of gas stations [at least in my area] that sell diesel, so you have to be mindful of your gas meter when driving 🙂

  3. Don’t feel bad, when I was living in the SF Bay Area, I was this >< close to buying one and converting it to run on bio-diesel, the conversion kit is only about $100usd, but the only filling station were in Bezerkely, which meant I would have had to pop on over there on a regular basis. Hmmm, then again, that might not have been such a bad idear.
